The History of Casa in Volpaia

Atop a hill in the "high Chianti" in Tuscany, the village of Volpaia once boasted a medieval "castello" (castle) with buttressed walls and great stone towers. Today Volpaia retains much of its original architecture, including a guard tower, wall fortifications and most of the original houses.

Attached to the outer wall of the ancient castello, Casa in Volpaia was built circa 1100 and restored just over a decade ago with great attention to retaining its authentic charm while providing comfort and convenience.

The 3-bedroom, 1.5-bath home is luxuriously furnished and beautifully accented with marble sinks, exposed stone walls, rich Tuscan colors, antiques and local art.

Just as charming is the exterior with its lovely courtyard, small private garden, original stone pizza oven and covered loggia with a view of the surrounding vineyards, olive groves and forested hills.

In every aspect, this home is restful, intimate, welcoming.
